As we begin this last week of the first semester, we are thankful for the good beginning to this school year. The students have been focused on their academics and at the same time have been able to enjoy each other's company and have some fun!
The spring testing season will be upon us quickly when we return. The 8th grade writing assessment is scheduled for January 16th and 17th. Our teachers have worked hard to prepare our students, but they also need your support and encouragement. The CRCT is scheduled for April 21-25 and we will begin scheduling special workshop sessions to help our students.
Our band and chorus concerts were wonderful! I hope you had a chance to catch one or both of them. Ms. Odio and Mrs. Haston have done a great job and to think both of them are first year teachers.
There was a good turnout at the sports recognition program held on December 10th. A special thanks to Careyee Bell for organizing the refreshments. She and Lisa Vaughn were both there representing the DMS School Council as well as Nathan Wooten, school board chairman, and Patty Priest, school superintendent. Student athletes from the following sports were recognized: Softball, Football, Cross Country, Wrestling and Cheerleading.
The last day of school for the students is December 20. Students return on Friday, January 4th.
On behalf of Dr. Watkins and the entire faculty and staff at Dade Middle School, I wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season.
