Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are going to reschedule the ITBS reception to Monday, January 14.
The DMS chorus under the direction of Gabrielle Haston will present its Christmas Concert at Dade County High School on Tuesday, December 4, at 7:00. The students have been working very hard on their music for the past several weeks. I hope you can come out and hear them!
The second Academic Market Place will be held on Wednesday and Thursday, December 5th and 6th. Parents will be able to view the displays on Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 to 3:00. Judges for this event will be from the Dade County Retired Teachers Association. Ribbons and certificates will be presented on Thursday, December 6th during SFA from 2:40 to 3:10. If you get a chance please come and view the work of our students. I think you will be amazed at the quality and diversity of the projects! For more information on the Academic Market Place, please visit the DMS website.
We will have several students participating in the UGA Honor Band on the 6th and 7th.
The fall sports recognition is scheduled for Monday, December 10. There will be light refreshments served from 6:30 - 7:00 and the recognition program will begin promptly at 7:00. Both activities will be held in the gym.
Basketball and wrestling are into full swing with wrestling nearing the end of their season. All students and coaches have worked hard to represent DMS.
The work on the band/art room building roof has begun! In addition to a new roof, a new floor will be installed in the band room and new sound boards will be added. Both rooms will be getting new ceiling tiles. We are hoping to be able to move band/chorus and art back into the building at the beginning of the year.
The DMS band under the direction of Sarah Odio will present its Christmas Concert on Thursday, December 13, at 7:00 at DCHS. The 7th and 8th grade bands will be combined. The 6th grade band will play before the 7th and 8th grades. Since band classes have been relocated to the cafeteria until the work on the band/art building is completed, I have heard them practicing every morning for the past several weeks, and they are sounding great! I hope you and your family will be able to attend the concert on the 13th.
As we near the end of the first semester of school, please check with your child about any money he/she owes in the cafeteria and any class work that need to be made up.
