We have received the 8th grade state writing assessment scores, and I am pleased to report that 91% of our 8th graders met or exceeded the standard score. While our 8th grade language arts teachers, Mr. Randolph and Mr. Jelley, are to be congratulated, this success is truly a school-wide effort and a three year effort. Students will be receiving their individual scores with their 3rd nine weeks report card.
Beginning on March 12, SFA classes will be focused on basic skills that students need to know without having to think about in preparation for the CRCT. Two-thirds of their fourth nine week grade in SFA will be based on the assessments given between March 12 and April 18. Basic skills will include items like: the prime numbers, multiplication facts, the eight parts of speech, and vocabulary words in science and social studies. You might want to ask you child each evening what was covered in SFA!
On March 19th the Wolverzine staff will be visiting Atlanta and hopefully, have a meeting with the governor.
March 20th is an early release day. School will be dismissed at approximately 1:00. Please be sure you have made arrangements for after school and that your student knows how he/she is to go home. Parent/teacher conferences will begin around 1:30-1:45. Your student will be bringing home a sign up time form in the next week or so.
March 20th will also be spring pictures.
There will be no after school program on March 20th.
We will be out of school on Friday, March 21. We will be in school on March 28th and April 28th.
I know that many of our students have been battling the flu and other health issues, but please work on having them at school everyday. Their attendance is critical to their success on the CRCT in April. Maybe warmer weather will help!
