Our third nine weeks Market Place was absolutely fantastic! There were some 170 projects entered and the students did a wonderful job presenting the information. The Optimist Club awarded three monetary prizes for the top "Innoventions" and several certificates were presented to students in several categories. Be on the lookout for pictures and information in the local newspapers. The fifth graders from Davis Elementary and Dade Elementary visited the Market Place. This is the first of several visits the fifth graders will make to the middle school before the end of the school year.
As you know, we did have a bomb threat here last Thursday. There are procedures and policies in place when situations like this occur and those procedures and policies were followed. The situation is still under investigation. Please speak with your children about the impact that such a prank causes to the instructional program and to law enforcement personnel. We had representatives here from the Dade County Sheriff's Department, the Trenton Police Department, Dade County Emergency Management, the school superintendent and assistant superintendent. Unfortunately, we live in a day and time where all matters such as this must be taken seriously and because of procedures and policies comments on these situations are generated from school system's county office. The safety of our students and school personnel is always first and foremost and all parties involved followed the directions of those in control of the operation.
