The 8th grade state writing assessment went well on Wednesday. The students seemed to be very focused! The teachers were very pleased with their effort and attitude. We had our second Principal's Award on Friday and recognized approximately 30 students for exhibiting those traits and characteristics that we work so hard on here at DMS.
- January 21 is an in-service day for teachers. No school!
- There is a school board meeting on Monday, January 21, at 7:00, at the Dade County Board of Education.
- On January 23 our students will receive information about the third Market Place activity to be held on February 26 and 27th.
- Invitations to the Academic Reception will be given out on January 28th. The reception will be held on February 4 at 6:30.
- The spelling bee will be held on Friday, February 1.
- 8th grade parents: please put Monday, February 25, on your calendar. At 6:30 that night we will have a special parent session for 8th grade parents only regarding the CRCT. Students must make a standard score in the areas of reading/language arts and math in order to be promoted to the 9th grade in addition to passing five out of five academic classes. There will be a separate meeting for the parents of 6th and 7th graders to discuss the CRCT. This meeting will be scheduled in March.
- To answer a question that came up this week, please know that parents are welcomed and invited to come and have lunch with their student at any time and not just during the two weeks during the year that are especially set up for that purpose. Just be sure to come and sign in at the counter in the office.
