- Report cards go home on Tuesday, January 15th. Students who owe money in the cafeteria will not receive their reports cards until their debt is cleared.
- The 8th grade state writing assessment will be given on Wednesday, January 16 from 8:30 to 10:45. Please be sure your youngster gets a good night's sleep and arrives to school on time.
- 6th and 7th graders will also have a writing assessment on Wednesday. This gives them good practice and will also allows for us to keep the building quiet while the 8th graders begin their official state testing season!
- Mrs. Smart's team will be going on a field trip to the Birmingham Museum of Art on Wednesday. They will take their writing assessment on Thursday.
- The second 9 weeks Principals Awards will be held on Friday at 8:30.
- Dr. Watkins will be attending the Georgia Leaders Institute in Atlanta on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
- Remember that after school tutoring and homework assistance is available through the DMS after school program. There is a nominal $25.00 fee that covers the entire semester. The program runs Monday through Thursday from after school until 5:30. There will be a special emphasis placed on CRCT preparation during the after school program beginning in March.
- As you view your child's report card, it might be helpful to remember the promotion/retention policy. A student is expected to pass 5 out of 5 academic subjects in order to be promoted. If a student fails 1 subject, he/she will be promoted on probation and will have to repeat the course he/she failed. If a student fails 2 or more subjects, he/she will be retained.
