I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday season! We will be hitting the ground running as we begin the second semester of school.
- The 8th grade state writing assessment will be held on Wednesday, January 16th. Please do not schedule any appointments for that morning if at all possible. Testing will begin at 8:30 and will end at approximately 10:45. 6th and 7th graders will also take a writing assessment on that day. This is a good practice for them so that they know what they will be facing when they reach the 8th grade.
- Mr. Emmett's team will be going on a field trip to the Birmingham Museum of Art on Wednesday, January 9th, and Mrs. Smart's team will be going on a field trip to the Birmingham Museum of Art on Wednesday, January 16th.
- As we begin the new semester, please check with your youngster to see if he/she owes any money in the cafeteria. Those students who do not have their cafeteria accounts clear will not receive their report cards on January 15th.
- The roof on the band/art room is finished and work has begun on the floor in the band room. Hopefully, we will be able to resume classes in the band/chorus room in the next couple of weeks.
- The after school program resumes on Monday, January 8. Please remember to bring the $25.00 second semester fee when you pick up your child.
- Please be sure to put your child's name in his/her coat/jacket. It seems like every year during the cold weather months, that we have students misplacing coats/jackets. These items are expensive and it has proven helpful in the past to have some type of identifying mark to connect the piece with its owner.
